Oakland Smokin' Black Panthers to Oscar Grant

After a 15 year hiatus from radio the Last Black Hero (Host) and Dj Rage (Producer), combine forces again to bring you the return of Race for the Times. This Speical Edition Podcast featuring Adimu Madyun and Ras Ceylon) focuses on the Oscar Grant Verdict, and the History of Resistance in Oakland. January 1st, 2009 Oscar Grant was murdered by BART officer Johannes Mehserle, as Oscar Grant lie face down subdued by officers. On January 7th, 2009 a rebellion took place in Oakland Ca, as people took to the streets protesting the lack of charge handed down to Mehserle. After receiving worldwide coverage of the "riots", Mehserle was charged with murder after he was found in Nevada. On July 8th, 2010 the jury reached a verdict of Guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter only after a couple hours of deliberation. The people took to the streets again that night in Oakland Ca. We discuss the ramifications of the case, that night in Oakland, and the History of Resistance in Oakland back to the Black Panthers.
